I was born in Lugano, Switzerland, in 1968. Soon after finishing my studies in Biological Sciences at the University of Pavia, Italy, I moved to Greece in 1995 to begin a research on the birds of the Gialova Lagoon of Pylos, SW Peloponnese. My studies approached me to wildlife photography, which slowly became my second occupation. In 1999 appeared my first book «A Day at the Lagoon» and in 2004 my second one «Things that crawl, fly and bloom at Mystras», both published by Synolo Editions in Athens. In 2002 I had the idea of writing a guide book to the Greek Nature, a book that I would have liked very much to have while travelling around the country, but that wasn’t there yet; a book that would contain condensed information about the unique wildlife of this wonderful country and where to go to watch it. The book was finally published by ROAD Editions in collaboration with WWF in 2008. In the same year, a new book was published in collaboration with my friend photographer Philippos Katsigiannis «Nature 365», published by Militos Editions in Athens.
My pictures have been published in various magazines around the world, including the BBC Wildlife Magazine and the the National Geographic (both Greek and internatinal editions). They can be found at the UK Photo Library www.nhpa.co.uk. I also had the honor to win two awards in the prestigious photo contest BG Wildlife Photographer of the Year, in 1999 and in 2004.
Today I am based in Pylos, Athens and Lugano, although my work brings me to travel around a lot in my old Land Rover, which has been restored into my 4X4 home. The best home...
